How to Have a Great 2021 with ADHD

A new year is almost upon us, and many are looking forward to 2021 after the dumpster fire that was 2020. However, unless you take steps to ensure something changes, you will have another lousy year. This is not about making New Year’s resolutions. I am against that sort of thing. This is about making a change because it is time to make a change. Start today, not January 1.

Get Creative

I feel like I say this in all of my blogs, but many ADHDers are extremely creative and need a creative outlet. Finding unique ways of doing things will be key to surviving this new year (and every other year, for that matter).

Make Small Changes

Yes, be creative, but I do not necessarily mean that on a large scale. Whether you are trying to spice things up or come up with a new strategy, small changes are the way to go. Little, small changes can help refresh old strategies that have gone stale and make things seem bold and new.

Connect with Other ADHDers

Life with ADHD can feel isolating. You sometimes feel different and as if everyone has it easier than you. However, it is so refreshing to be around others who have ADHD and “get it.” By connecting with others who share some of your same struggles, any burden you might feel about having ADHD is lifted. There are many ways of connecting with other ADHDers. There are local meetups and groups you can join. But, if there are not any groups in your area, look online. ADDA has virtual peer support groups, and Reddit has a great ADHD subreddit. Look around for ways to connect. They are out there.

Do Not Go It Alone

You do not need to battle ADHD on your own. Like I mentioned above, there are support groups you can join. There are also other means of support. You can find an accountability partner or a body double when you need to get something done. Hiring a coach is another great way to tackle ADHD.
