5 More Things Every ADHDer Should Know to Avoid Despair

In 2019, I wrote a blog post entitled “5 Things Every ADHDer Should Know to Avoid Despair.” In it, I listed 5 things to remember to help maintain a positive mindset. I would like to add 5 more to the list and inspire some hope.

1.) There Are a Lot of Famous People with ADHD

If these people can succeed, despite having ADHD. Then, you can too. Here is a brief list of some celebrities with ADHD:

  • Popstar Justin Timberlake

  • Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s Ty Pennington

  • Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine

  • Actor Channing Tatum

  • JetBlue founder David Neeleman

  • Olympian Michael Phelps

  • Entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson

  • Dancing with the Stars’ Karina Smirnoff

  • Olympian Simone Biles

  • ADHD expert and author Dr. Edward M. Hallowell

  • Actor Jim Carrey

  • Actor, comedian, and television host Howie Mandel

  • Singer Solange Knowles

  • Film director Alejandro González Iñárritu

  • Actor Jim Caviezel

2.) You Are Strong

How do I know you are strong? Because you have ADHD. Let me explain. To get stronger in the gym, you lift heavy things. This builds up your muscles. The same is true for mental struggles. They make us stronger. Therefore, every day you battle with your ADHD, you are getting stronger

3.) You Are Important

Every human being is unique and adds a special flavor to the world. In short, without you, the world would be boring. Your existence makes things exciting and fun.

4.) Your Dreams Are Possible

It can be hard to believe, but the things you really want to do are possible. You can do great things. When you think there is no way you can achieve your goals, tell yourself to shut up. I know you can do it because you are strong and important.

5.) There Are People Who Want to Help You

It sometimes feels like we have to do everything on our own, but that is not true. There are people all over the world who are there for you and ready to help you. I am one of those people. I am an ADHD coach, and I am ready, willing, and able to help you achieve your goals.
