There is an old expression, “Curiosity killed the cat.” While I don’t like cats and would be fine with them all dying, I do not like the expression. This expression insinuates that curiosity is a bad thing, a thing to be avoided. I say, on the contrary, that curiosity is to be embraced. This is especially true for those of us with ADHD

Curiosity Promotes Learning

The end result of curiosity is learning. True learning is the result of someone getting curious about a topic. Knowledge gained is beneficial in many areas of life. For example, if you know more about a person, you will have a better understanding of if you want that person in your life. This is especially true in dating relationships. The more curious you are about your date, the better you will know if they are the right one for you.

Moreover, getting curious about yourself can be the source of powerful learnings. By getting curious about who you are and how you best operate, you set yourself up for huge steps of growth.

Getting Curious Makes You Feel Alive

I know this is true for me, and I suspect it is true for you too, dear reader. By engaging your natural curiosity, you get energized. You dig into the topic at hand, and in doing so, you feel the thrill of engaging in a subject of high interest. This creates an exhilarating feeling.

You Miss Out on Life When You Are Not Curious

If you stay focused on your own little world, you miss out. There is a great big world out there, and it is filled with exciting stuff. By getting curious, you open yourself up to new ideas and possibilities. You can go from merely surviving to thriving.

Get Curious

If nothing else, I hope these words today have inspired you to get curious about the world around you. I hope you will engage the naturally curious part of your brain and will begin to live a life of wonder and awe. I know this will be beneficial for you. So, go out there, and get curious!
