More Book Recommendations from Reset ADHD

In 2019, I wrote a blog post recommending books for the ADHD brain. It has been over 2 years, and it is time to add some more books to the list. Here are some new book recommendations.

Your Brain’s Not Broken by Tamara Rosier

This brand new book is filled with great wisdom from the president of the ADHD Coaches Organization. In it, she introduces the world to her Solve-It Grid, about which I have previously written. There is more than just that grid in the book. Trust me; it is worth a read.

Improv Wisdom: Don't Prepare, Just Show Up by Patricia Ryan Madson

This book is not ADHD-specific, but I believe the wisdom in it can apply to anyone. This book discusses how the lessons learned from doing improv can apply to everyday life. This might be something outside of your comfort zone, but that is the whole point. Getting outside your comfort zone is a huge part of improv. Simply reading this book will inspire you to get more out of life.

If I Understood You, Would I Have This Look on My Face? by Alan Alda

This is another book that discusses improv. However, it is about so much more than that. In it, actor Alan Alda (of M*A*S*H fame) discusses his work trying to get scientists to be better communicators. It is a fascinating read and provides some great lessons on communication, which can be useful for anyone but especially for ADHDers.

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

This is a fictional book and one that I think all women should read. Men should read it too, but women in particular need to know about some of the toxic behaviors depicted in this psychological thriller. Read the book; don’t watch the movie. The movie does not do it justice.

Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor E. Frankl

This book, written by a holocaust survivor, details his time in concentration camps and the endurance needed to overcome tragedy and hardship. The book explores Frankl’s theory of logotherapy that human beings are driven by a search for meaning and not necessarily pleasure. It is a great read and well worth your time.
