We all have dragons to slay. By dragons, I mean the big scary tasks that we know we have to do or want to do but have a sense of overwhelm when thinking about doing it. These tasks can seem insurmountable, but they can be done. They might be difficult, but we can do difficult things.

Plan

The first thing you need is a plan of attack. Break down what you need or want to do into tiny steps. Figure out where to start and how to best accomplish what you need or want to do.

Get Started

Once you have a plan of attack, you actually have to get started. It is not about simply coming up with a great idea. You have to follow through. I have written an entire blog post on the subject of getting started.

One Step at a Time

Just focus on one step at a time. There is no need to look eight steps ahead. Just do one step with each step informing the next step. By taking this approach, you can avoid overwhelm.

Find a Teammate

I get it. This task is hard. Could it be that it is too hard to tackle alone? Possibly. Even if it is something you can do on your own, you do not have to do it alone. Having another person around can be a game changer. This could be a friend who does the task with you or a coach who helps you access your strengths to overcome your challenges. Whoever it is, make sure they believe in you.

Lastly…

YOU CAN DO IT!
