You Need a Team

Our society places high regard on individual effort. We are expected to work hard and show no weaknesses. However, we are social beings. We need others. When life gets tough, there is no shame in seeking the support of others. In fact, it is the smart thing to do.

Solid Support System

We all need a solid support system to help us through life’s struggles. These can be family members, friends, or significant others. This team could also include therapists, counselors, doctors, and religious leaders. The key is to have someone to whom you can turn and with whom you can be vulnerable.

— A boring, trite phrase that actually has some truth to it

Rumination

Negative thoughts can swirl like a tornado. When your mind gets going like that, it is nearly impossible to break free of its destructive force. That is where a sound support system comes in handy. Trusted individuals from your solid support system can point out the truth and help calm you down.

My mind is like a bad neighborhood, I try not to go there alone.

Progress Reports

When making a positive change in your life, it can be hard to see progress or how far you need to go. Change does not happen instantly, and when you need help tracking your progress, turning to others can be beneficial.
