The Weekly Reset: Micro-Changes
When I was at the 2019 ADHD Conference, I attended a session on “micro-changes.” This made me realize that…
It’s time for a RESET!
The Issue
In these The Weekly Reset posts, I write about these big sweeping changes I want to make in my life. However, big sweeping changes are daunting. The immensity of these changes could cause overwhelm. The presentation I saw at the conference made me realize the changes I want to make would be more likely to succeed if I focused on making micro-changes, small changes that can lead to big action. Instead of trying to make a big change, I should focus on doing one small thing that can spark something grand.
My Why
And, I want to do things in a way that works for me. I want my plans to be doable. These posts should be an example for others on how to make changes in one’s life.
Who I Want to Be
I do not want to be a hypocrite. I actually want to make the changes I say I’m going to make. I want to be a man of my word.
Strengths-Based Strategies
Instead of planning to make grand changes, I need to focus on small changes I know I can easily implement. No longer can I act like large changes are the answer. Small, tiny things are the things that are more likely to get done.
As a coach, I help my clients break down tasks into small tiny pieces. Why am I not doing that with myself? I need to be using the same strategies with myself as I do with my clients.
